An Innovationg Quartlery

    Throughout this lats four years we analyze in detail stories from the book "Stories of Ourselves", poems from "Songs of Ourselves" and the play "An Inspector Calls" written by J.B.Priestley.
The stories we read were:

  • Sredni Vashtar, by Saki.
  • The Phoenix, by Sylvia Townsend Warner 
  • The Prison, by Bernard Malamud
  • Billenium, by J.G. Ballard
  • Ming's Biggest Prey, by Patricia Highsmith
  • Games At Twilight, by Anita Desai
  • To Da-duh, in Memoriam, by Paule Marshall
  • Of White Hairs and Cricket, by Rohinton Mistry
  • Tyres, by Adam Thorpe
The poems we read were: 

  • The Clod and the Pebble, by William Blake
  • Song, by Lady Mary Wroth
  • Passion, by Kathleen Raine
  • Last Sonnet, by John Keats 
  • Love (III), by Geogre Herbert
  • Lovers' Infiniteness, by John Donne
  • "She Was a Phantom of Delight", by William Wordsworth 
  • Tiger in the Menagerie, by Emma Jones
  • Lion Heart, by Amanda Chong
  • Heart and Mind, Edith Sitwell
  • For My Grandmother Knitting, by Liz Lochhead
  • Father Returning Home, by Dilip Chitre
  • The Lost Woman..., by Patricia Beer
  • Stabat Mater, by Sam Hunt
   To conclude with this four years we have a special assigment. We had to work with three stories, three poems and the play and make a thesis statement about two themes of each text and supported with a quotation. Finally we had to ilustrate our ideas throught some pictures.
